Do Staged Homes Sell Faster?

Updated: Jan 10, 2019

A Majority Of Realtors Agree They Do.

According to the National Association of Realtors 2017 Profile of Home Staging;

62% of sellers agents confirmed that their staged homes spent less time on the market. Staged homes also positively communicated a higher perceived value. One of the major reasons for this that staging does a lot for a listed home. First it provides the ability for the buyer to visualize themselves living in the home as opposed to an empty model. If the home is already furnished, proper staging design and psychology makes the best use of room sizes, flow and design continuity for a pleasant and memorable “feel” to the home. All this works together to present a home in its fullest livable potential.

Staging also provides better real estate photography. Data shows that the one of the top 3 reasons (if not the first) potential sellers add a home to their list to see is because of the home photography.

Staged homes also help buyers to overlook other property flaws. For example; the beauty of a properly staged home may dilute the look of old appliances or a not so wonderful backyard view.

The data from the 2017 Nar report indicates the 3 most important rooms that have the greatest impact of a buyers first impression are: The living room, master bedroom and kitchen. A good stager will work with these 3 rooms to create an “at-home” feel, while the other rooms support and expand that emotional connection.

In regards to actual offers, nearly half of the realtors surveyed agreed that a staged home can help them increase offers by up to 10%..
